I live in the [Seattle metropolitan area](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_metropolitan_area).

A decade ago, thongs were a rare sight, but they’ve been normalized in more recent years. It’s typically to see at least one other person wearing a thong at the waterfront parks in the summertime. Thongs are [legal](https://www.thongforum.com/t/king-county-washington-united-states/27) in most cities, and, while the vast majority of people wear more modest swimsuits, they are generally accepted.
