Been wearing thongs for about five years now. I’m a curvier, plus-sized guy, usually a 33–36 waist, so sizing hasn’t been too wild for me. I started out with the basics: Amazon iKingsly 6-9 packs, for around $20–30. Affordable and a good way to test the waters. But after a while, I wanted diffrent patterns, maybe materials, and overall quality. That’s when I started checking out other brands—and wow, was I surprised. A single pair can go for $25 and up! I’ve tried a few: Slickitup, Strappmetal, JJ Malibu (before their rebrand), and Hunks. Out of all of them, I’ve really only stuck with Hunks and the older JJ Malibu stuff. The others didn’t hit the mark for me.
Is this just the reality of the lifestyle cheap bundles with iffy quality control or $30+ singles that are hit-or-miss and non-returnable?
Curious to hear what other guys have experienced. Worth the price? Or still hunting for that perfect balance?
Hi Thickrob. Welcome. It is true that you get what you pay for. Quality comes at a price. If you want reasonable quality from Asia, try a brand JAXFSTK. I swim laps in a thong in Australia so i like a tie cord so that they stay in place when I tumble turn. My favourite brand is Kiniki from England. I choose their tan through suits, which minimise tan lines. They are around $42 AUD.
I have a hard time paying top dollar for every day thong underwear. I’m a big fan of the iKingsly (or however, you spell it) thongs from Amazon also. I’m a size 32 and I find the mediums too fit great. With just a little bit of slack in the front to make them an all day comfortable wear. However, I’ll spend top dollar on my swim thongs and g-strings … but to answer your question, it can be expensive.
I can’t answer for you, but for me, that answer is a resounding YES! I cannot bring myself to pay big money for a thong. If I see a price tag over $50 (including shipping) it’s going to be a no for me, at least until there’s a sale, no matter how sexy it looks. Granted, I’m a public school teacher and live solely on my income, so I have to live with the understanding that there will be things that just aren’t in my budget. However, I really don’t think I could bring myself to pay top dollar even if it fit my budget. Personally, I’d rather wear a thong I already own or an Amazon special and put that $100 toward a nice meal or fun excursion while I’m traveling. That being said, I’m happy for guys who can indulge in the more expensive brands, and I like reading their thoughts on here and seeing their pics on other sites. It really just comes down to what’s more important to the consumer, and there’s no shame in choosing to be frugal or in being more extravagant.
This is another way in which this forum is so valuable. Reading comments and reviews from other thong enthusiasts helps me decide whether a brand or style is worth trying, and which size I should order if I do. If it gets rave reviews, I’m much more likely to consider splurging on an item once it goes on sale.
