I received an unexpected invite to the Avon area of the Outer Banks later in August. I’ve only been as far south at Pea Island which I always found to be very quiet and a great place to thong. Can anyone describe the Avon area about 30 minutes south?
I’ve stayed in Avon 4-5 times in April to windsurf. Avon is actually pretty nice. I’ve been to the Mad Crabber there several times and enjoyed it.
The 10 minute drive to Buxton is worth it for the Orange Blossom Bakery Cafe; it’s frigging delicious. All their baked goods are excellent but the biscuits are in “best ever” territory.
As for beaches… I don’t know too much since I’ve only been there during “wetsuit season”. That being said, Avon Beach is part of the National Seashore, and I’ve seen women in thongs and topless there even 10-12 years ago. My guess is that you’ll be fine in a thong there.
