Was up this way for work so of course I spent a couple of hours over two afternoons checking out the local beaches on Lake Champlain. Vermont is very progressive and considering that Burlington is a college town, I wasn’t expecting anyone to care or take a second look. Lots of Canadiens here too.
Day1: Leddy Beach.
Free parking in a big lot next to the bike trail and then maybe a 50 yard walk to the beach. Upon arriving, I looked to the left and the right and went right because I saw three twenty something’s sunning themselves in their thongs. To the left, I also saw 3-4 thongs but several families too.
i spent almost three hours laying out and going for a swim. Over this time, a couple of other thong wearers laid out nearby and two guys in board shorts set up 10 feet away and didn’t seem to care what I was wearing.
The lake has a very shallow grade so you have to walk out 75 yards before the water is over your waist. Needless to say, you best be confident because there is no hiding your package and butt while you wade out to deeper water. On my way back in, I got a pleasant hello and a big warm smile from a 40ish blonde who was playing with her dog in the water. If she was shocked to see a 6’4” guy emerge from the water in a thong, she didn’t act like it.
Day 2: North Beach
To access this beach, you need to drive thru a camp ground. When you arrive at the lot, there are signs saying you need to pay via an app. Not terribly expensive.
This beach is maybe 3/4 mile south of Leddy Beach and is way longer and much more crowded. It is also shaped like a horseshoe and forms a natural harbor so 15 boats or so were anchored up just beyond the swimming buoys.
I chose a spot near some other thong wearers and shortly there after, a 40ish y/o Canadian couple showed up. She was wearing a g-string and he was wearing a Speedo. They immediately headed to the water.
I spent maybe an hour and half working on my tan and then I too headed to the water. Same long walk out to deep water but at this beach I had to walk past some families and kids but I figured the g-string & speedo couple already broke the ice so I went for it. After 15 minutes in the water, I started to walk back in and I heard a group of 5 women chatting nearby. One of them must have pointed me out to the others because they got loud and soon one of them was trying to get my attention and when I turned toward her, she said “You are very brave!” They were having a good time so I just waved and said “thanks”
Overall, I would say Burlington is a great destination for any guy (or girl) who wants to wear a thong. A college town in a progressive state with lots of Canadiens= very thong friendly
