I wish I liked the C-IN2 Poolside Swim Thong. Mainstream brands rarely carry men’s thong swimsuits, so I was excited to see one on C-IN2’s website. Unfortunately, my excitement was tempered when I tried it on.

The Poolside Swim Thong is front lined. It does not have a drawstring, and the fabric is not very stretchy. Fortunately, C-IN2’s size guide is accurate. I typically wear a small. I ordered a small Poolside Swim Thong, and it fits well.

The cut is similar to a vintage brief. It’s roomy in the front rather than form fitted, and, if there was any more coverage in the back, it would be a cheeky bikini instead of a thong. Unfortunately, this causes air to get trapped in the suit, which is quite noticeable when submerged in water. It’s comfortable dry, but I don’t enjoy swimming in the Poolside Swim Thong. I get that they’re trying to make a more conservative thong, but I think C-IN2 went too far in that direction.

Since Speedo discontinued their men’s thong, the style has been notably absent from mainstream swimwear collections. C-IN2 is no Speedo. Nevertheless, it’s encouraging to see them include a thong in their 2024 swimwear line. I hope they’ll offer a revised version next year.

C-IN2 is releasing a new version of their swim thong. It’s available for pre-order and shipping in late May.

Based on the photos, it looks more like a true thong compared to the cheeky style from a couple of years ago. It’s also almost twice the price at $62.

It’s wild how they are already sold out for the new swim thongs… but at the same time, I find that very promising for the future of swim thongs

The new C-IN2 swim thong improves the original design, but still can’t be recommended.

Unlike the previous version, the new one is undeniably a thong. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit me well. It sits too high on the hips and the elastic doesn’t fit snugly on the inner thigh. These might look better on an exceptionally tall and muscular individual (i.e., a model), but they don’t suit me.

The fabrics are a little too papery, and the tags are sewn in and difficult to remove. While the colors match the photos, I’d prefer something more subdued.

I’m glad to see a mainstream adjacent brand continuing to offer thong swimwear, but at this price point the specialty brands have significantly better options (including fully custom swimsuits).
