Coyote Jocks has been on my list of brands to try for a while, but their Classic Swim Thong always seemed to be out of stock in the size and color combinations I preferred. They recently released their 2025 swim collection, which includes a new Mini Swim Thong. I ordered the Onyx and Neon Black colorways.
The Mini Swim Thong is fully lined and does not have a drawstring. The front is reminiscent of a retro swim brief—less form-fitting than the contemporary athletic briefs made by mainstream brands—which goes well with the classic striped patterns. The back is a minimal, low-rise thong.
I prefer small sizes from most brands and usually wear one size below my waist size with brands that use more precise inch-based sizing (e.g., TYR, Speedo, etc.). According to the Coyote Jocks size chart, I’m at the top end of the small range, so I ordered both in that size. They fit, but just barely. Putting them on and taking them off requires a little maneuvering. The fit in the front is perfect, but the back is a little more snug and lower-rise than I’d prefer. And since they’re not very stretchy, the fit is unforgiving.
If the fit were a little better, the Coyote Jocks Mini Swim Thong would easily be one of my favorites. I really like the full-coverage front and the subtle old-school vibe. I might try the medium to see if it’s a better fit in the back, but that often results in swimsuits being too loose elsewhere. If you like the retro style and are in the middle of one of the size ranges, these are well worth a look. I’ll definitely be wearing mine more this spring and summer.
