Do you swim laps in a thong?

Swam for the first time at my gym pool, LA Fitness. I looked up any rules and only found appropriate swimwear which is subjective. It wasn’t really crowded so once I was in the pool I stripped to my swim thong and did my laps. I switched between my speedo and thong just to look for any reactions and I got none. One of my buddies walked in the pool area and he said Hi and I was using the kick board so my butt could be clearly seen. He stared for a second but then we chatted for a second. He said nothing about my thong and doesn’t know I’m a thonger. When I exited the pool I did a pushup from the ledge, propped my feet up and stood up and the people in the pool saw my thong. I glanced back and noticed only one person looking my way. The front desk girl who is also a swimmer said people are in speedos all the time. I asked about thongs and she said on occasion. She knows I wear a thong to the beach and being a former swimmer, small swimwear is just natural for me. I’m going to keep wearing my thong until anyone says anything. I’ll also have swim brief as a backup. Bought the Bang Miami Mini Swim Brief. It’s pretty comfortable and has the same cut in the front as the swim thong. They don’t ride up but I’ll make them ride up when I’m doing laps.

My main LA Fitness location, the manager spoke to me directly and said the company doesn’t have an official policy regarding thong bikinis. I was just asked to stop wearing them after a member complained. Any other location I visit, I will speak to the manager and ask if their location allows it. With all the recent posts about going to beaches allowing thongs, I hope this conversation expands to find more gyms, hotels, resorts, etc. that allow it.

I sometimes wonder what the right response would be if I was asked to stop wearing a thong somewhere, since I only wear them when I see women in thongs. I would probably start by pulling on my board shorts, but then asking the person who asked me to go around with me and make the same request of every single woman who’s wearing a thong. The point would be to politely enforce the rules for everyone, and see how well that flies.

If I got the sexist remark I would politely tell the LA Fitness employee if I see a thong on a woman I’ll complain. I’m not trying to make this is spectacle, having a thong ban I am cool with, but when I’m told not for guys but ok for ladies, that’s when I’ll say something.

I think if you play the discrimination card, management will quickly back down. I just wish there were more women playing the topless discrimination card!

Yes, I do swim laps in a thong. I just came back from my first swim of the year at the local indoor pool. It was quite busy for a morning session, with most of the swimmers being older, apart from a few competitive athletes. I wore a navy blue swim thong from JOR. It has fairly wide straps around the waist, so it’s not my go‑to thong for the beach, but I like the sporty look when I’m doing laps.

I was the only one in a thong, but a few guys were wearing briefs with fun patterns. One pair was baby blue with pink flamingos, so maybe there’s hope for the future. A couple of women wore cheeky swimwear, though nothing close to a thong this time.

I’ve never had any complaints from other swimmers or the lifeguards. The only rule is that swimwear has to be made of proper swim‑material, which I’ve always interpreted as including thongs.

I swam 2.5 km yesterday in my aussie togs thong, blue with Aussie flags all over it. It was Australia Day the previous day. I chatted to the the lifeguard Debbie before I jumped in. She often swims with me, and has followed me in all of my 11 different thongs. She knows my butt better than I do. Before I jumped in, another thonger was also entering. He is older like me, and is a regular. When I was finished, I watched as a twenty something young lady approached in a training style bikini. The black bottoms were thong like, and she looked amazing.

What are the chances…I think we have the same thong, and wore I it on the same day to do my lap swimming. Mind you, I swim in an ocean pool at 4:00am…

I am participating in a charity swim (raising money for breast cancer research) for the month of February where I need to complete 30kms. They give you a bright pink swimming cap with the logo on it for signing up, so I am going ‘full pink mode’ for the month by adding pink flippers, goggles, and a desmitt thong. Should get a few comments…

One of the local pools in my neighborhood offers dedicated swim times for the trans community. Last week, I went to one of these sessions and wasn’t stopped by the lifeguards. I changed in a gender-neutral locker room and wore my Gregg Homme Caliente swim thong. There were about 6 other people there, and I’d say two of them were clearly trans. Regardless, I was happy that the pool was not crowded and that I had a lane to myself. I had the skimpiest swimsuit on, and the lifeguards did not bat an eye.

It was an interesting experience, but I think I will stick with my regular pool.

Week 3 of swimming laps at my local gym. I wear cover shorts but today I wore my thong the whole time swimming. I’m giving less F’s and I didn’t ask permission from my gym if I can wear a thong or not. Other now have seen me and have said nothing. At the point I figure if someone is going to say something I’ll deal with it if/when it happens. Remember most of the apprehension is in our own mind. I act normal and do my laps, no different then walking at the beach. Then in the locker room and switch out to my thong underwear. I don’t rush to put on my clothes like I used to but I don’t make it a point to show off. I change at a normal rate, put on my deodorant, pack up the bag, and walk out the gym in regular people clothes.

One of the two gym locations I visit, once I’m in the mens locker room I have no worries about being in a thong. No cover ups from locker to shower to pool. Nobody cares, perhaps a look every now and then. I’m cordial with everyone, share lanes when busy, and have nice conversations with the regulars. There’s even one father that brings his special needs daughter and he doesn’t have any issues. I stay clear away from his daughter, never interact and move when they want to swim. Thongs don’t make people disrespectful. Attitudes do.

I keep all my swim thongs and speedos in a plastic bag. I usually wear a Speedo over my swim thong as a cover. Today, I went to my usual swim session, but I only had my swim thongs in the plastic bag.

The pool was packed (about 30 people), and I debated whether or not I should wear a swim thong to the pool. Fortunately, there were two female life guards and some women wearing scrunch back swimsuits, so I decided to take the plunge. I put on my black Gregg Homme Caliente thong, took a quick shower, and went to the pool. There were people already at the pool, and I casually walked to the middle lane, which had the fewest people. No one batted an eye and I just waited for my turn to go.

Every one in my lane saw my rear, but no one made a comment. They all seemed like avid swimmers. I had to swim constantly without taking breaks because my lane seemed to be the fastest lane. Whenever I did take a break, I moved to the side lane, which was more for older swimmers. They didn’t seem to mind my swimsuit.

I swam for about 30 minutes and thought about how I should exit the pool. Since there were no complaints made during my swim session, I just used the ladder to exit the pool and I casually walked towards the changing room.

It was the first time I swam without any cover, and I hope I can continue doing this on a regular basis.

I swam 2 km this morning in my newly purchased Kiniki storm thong. I got it and another Aloha styled thong in a Kiniki winter clearance for only $28 AUD. They are made in England and are high quality, and feature material that is tan through. I recommend them. I swam with my usual swim buddie Debbie. We had the pool to ourselves for 75 minutes. Staff were the only others there. The staff were a young attractive female lifeguard, and her equally young and female supervisor. My walk to the pool edge brought a smile to the lifeguard. I hope it was my nicely muscled and tanned buttocks, perfectly framed by the bright swimsuit colours. Anyway, no comments from staff or calls to cover up. Act like you have been thonging for ever, and you will be fine.

LOVE this! Glad you were able to make the breakthrough

Back from my weekly swim at the swimming hall. Unfortunately, it will soon be closing for renovations, but at least the weather is finally warming up here in Finland, so the outdoor pool season is just around the corner.

Today was surprisingly quiet, barely anyone around. As usual, I was the only guy in a thong, but plenty of the athletic swimmers were in cheeky suits. And for the first time in a while, I even spotted a woman in a full‑on thong one‑piece. Nice to see the variety slowly expanding. With summer coming, I’m hoping the outdoor pool brings even more bold swimwear choices.
