How are the beaches and resorts in the Florida Keys for wearing a thong?
In my experience anywhere in South Florida and you are fine. Key West specifically you will be fine. Lots of women will be wearing them and you will see the occasional guy wearing one. I’ve never gone to a state park but have read they are not legal there.
I was in Duck Key at the Hawks Cay Resort in April. The main pool area had roughly 10% of women in thongs and lots and lots of kids.
There is an adult pool that I wanted to wear my thong at, but my elderly parents were there most days and just wouldn’t understand.
So, one day I walked over to their lagoon and laid out in a thong on a chaise lounge on a spit of sandy beach that encircles the lagoon. It was the best spot I could find given the circumstances.
Besides Duck Key - I did wear my thong at Sombrero Beach in Marathon.
I have also wore one at South Beach in Miami and at Stuart Beach in Stuart.
PS - I called Bahia Honda State Park and asked the ranger if thongs are permitted on the beach because I read they were prohibited. He said you will definitely see them on the beach but didn’t specify a gender
@SilverFoxDad … I went on a cruise once with the in-laws … my wife was on 24/7 patrol when we were on the sun deck for my FIL … I honestly don’t think either would care as long as we were enjoying ourselves but I didn’t want to find out.
That is too funny. Part of me thinks my mom wouldn’t care but not sure about my dad. When your 80 years old there is no reason to stir the pot!
The Keys are pretty excepting of all swimwear. I thong/g-string at any resort I’m at. Bahia Honda is cool with thongs for both sexes, ranger was probably vague about the beach because it is also known to be the spot for getting naked.
Smathers beach in Key West is a great beach. Really the only one I know of with decent sand for sunning.
