This is probably a bit of a long story but I want to give you my reasons for my swim thongs choices and ask your opinion.

I have a black Joe Snyder I bought a couple of years ago and never wore in public. I took it on holiday to Fuerteventura but everyone was naked on the beach so it felt like over dressing! I thought about wearing it at the hotel pool but I prefer the beach and honestly not sure I had the courage at the time.
That was a short break with just my wife. She’s reticent about taking my daughter(9) to that beach even though she understands that studies believe naturism has body positive effects in later life if kids aren’t closed off from it. She’s considering going back as a family though as during kids school holidays we understand there’s an increased degree on textiles.
Recently there’s been a heatwave at home, my daughter wanted to play with a water slide in the garden, my wife put on a bikini (my daughter is used to seeing her in thongs getting changed) so I thought I’m going to get my black thong on. Neither of them cared, well, my wife liked it, my daughter only wanted us to slide!
Now I’m thinking that went really well, we all had fun, I want to go on family holiday back to Fuerteventura and if we must go to less naturist focused beaches then I want to wear a thong.
I would definitely be (irrationally) nervous about wearing one so I chose these patterns based on my feeling (and some research on danger colours in natured) when someone observes these they:
Don’t scream ‘Look at me in my thong’, like neon?
Not overtly sexual like tear drop g-strings (which I don’t hate BTW)
Light hearted. Not taking yourself too seriously about wearing a thong? Casual? Plain dark colours seem serious?
At the same time subtle in particularly the Ocean one?
I suppose, basically, I’m looking to not give of signals, only that I’m just a family guy that’s here to chill and play with family and no one else. I just like wearing that thong for comfort.
Would love you hear what you think. What would you consider for such a holiday/vacation?
You’re a dude in a thong … most everywhere you wear a thong it’s going to scream “look at me.” Embrace it … Life is too short to not wear all the thongs in all the colors! … my current favorite is a neon yellow bulge Joe Snyder and my custom Skinzwear M55.
I’ll add … as a straight white dude who usually thongs with my wife. The vibe is pretty clear. I’ve never drawn unwanted attention to myself when my wife was around. I’ve actually only drawn positive attention from people who think it’s great and they usually start by telling her, not me.
As a guy who wears thongs at the beach, you’re going to stand-out. Let’s face it, it’s not that common, though it’s common to those that are used to it. I been wearing a thong to the beach for 3 years now. It’s still rare to see a guy out in one. For those in a relationship I can see how helps with confidence. Two people out there enjoying small swimwear. However, be confident, act normal, I haven’t had a negative encounter. I have had people stop and talk to me about my tan, my physique, just to break the ice they are talking to a dude in a thong. I think a guy in a g-string stands out more, but hey if you are confident to wear something that small, keep it going.
The signaling is in your head. If it’s a speedo four inch side thong, or a tiny push out g string in bright pink with tie sides, it won’t make that much of a difference. What will make a difference is HOW you’re behaving.
“Oh dear, look at that guy!”
“Which one?”
“The one with the thong!”
“Oh, I see. So?”
“Kinda cheeky, don’t you think?”
“Is it? He’s just laying there”
“Oh, look, he’s getting up!”
“Oh Henry, he can’t go for a swim? It’s kinda empowering, don’t you think? To hell with what people think!”
Patterns, colors, and styles do have a significant impact on how I perceive myself. If I look in the mirror and a color doesn’t suit me, a pattern is too silly for my taste, or a style doesn’t fit quite right, I’m much less confident about wearing that swimsuit in public.
As others have said, most people won’t notice much beyond the fact that you’re wearing a thong, if they notice at all. People are usually paying a lot less attention than we think (which is simultaneously freeing and depressing).
If that’s what’s going through your head, I think the Olaf Benz thongs you ordered are an excellent choice. They provide ample coverage, and the colors and patterns are classy and subdued. I have all of the thongs you listed, and they’re among my favorites.

For myself, color is a very important thing. The brighter the color the happier I am, and the more confident I am. I like bright bold colors. I’ve found that the brighter the color the more compliments I get.
As for style, I tend to only purchase pouch enhanced styles. It not because I want to show off. I find I need the space for comfort and a better fit.

I prefer a thong with a solid color and a front pouch that looks like a speedo. I’m not against g-strings, just not my thing. Once in a while I’ll wear a G when no one is around.
It depends on the room - or in most cases the beach. I have yet to wear a thong but do wear skimpy swimbriefs and squarecuts usually pouch based. Dark colors/patt stick out less but you still will be noticed and even heckled at many beaches in the south (Alabama, Florida, etc).
I’m looking forward to our trip to Puerto Vallarta in Jan 2027, staying at Matamar where I can wear thongs and micro swimwear comfortably.
Today I was at the beach with a female friend. When I got out of the car I saw her bent over putting her beach blanket down. She looked absolutely stunning in her thong bikini. So much so it was boarding on erotic. As soon as I was in nothing but my thong she was very complimentary. I was wearing an orange N2N Maverick thong. She loved the color and told me how it really showed off my tan. As the day went on she began to point out other women taking notice of me. Again she made comments about the color of my thong and how great it was. She was getting increasingly flirty as the day went on. At one point she told me that I looked much larger in the thong I was wearing than before. She made several more comments about how big things were. “Is that suit lined?” No it’s not. “That is why It fits you so well! That suit is obscene. Obscene in a good way. Do you have any more thongs like that? And, will you wear them, please?” Yes I do and will. At the end of the day she again was gushing over the color.
I am not exactly sure just how much color and style affect perception by others. At the end of the day, they are still a thong and will in many places be considered unusual and will cause people to take a second or third look.
With that said, I have a tendency to favor brightly colored, micro thongs. Some like the N2N Maverick have the push up and out pouch and others like Skinz M67 or Teamm8 Micro, have a more subdued pouch. Others like the N2N Sexy Ass are almost a g-string with a push up and out pouch.
A lot of what I chose to wear on a particular day depends on my mood and sometimes the audience.
Have I worn a bright colored, enhanced pouch micro thong at an outdoor hotel pool (with my wife) or on a very crowded beach- absolutely.
But are there times when I feel like a more subdued thong may be more appropriate or more aligned with my mood? Sure.
Today was my high fashion day. I started with a cow print thong and paired it with a cow print shirtsleeve button down shirt, cow print cowboy hat and shear black pants. It was an instant hit with people. As soon as people saw me I was getting compliments, every thing from that is so sharp to that’s a great outfit. I had a couple moms with children all smiles as we talked. They liked the hat and matching thong. It probably helped that I swam out to retrieve a wayward float for one of the kids. A man walked by a couple times then asked if he could talk. He’s fully clothed but tells me how he likes that I wear a tiny suit with such confidence.
My personal preference is to choose bright, solid colors over prints. I tan easily so I like colors that go well with my tan. I think this also effects how I am perceived because the thong is visible at a distance, reducing the “naked” concern. A dark tan without tan lines implies that I just did not decide to wear a skimpy suit to shock people - I must have been wearing it or less on a regular basis. Even if others do not think these things, making them a non-issue has a positive impact.
I usually prefer prints. One reason is I think the patterns are like camouflage and break up the outline since I prefer a pouch or moderate pushout front, other reason is the choice of print can be a subtle message weather floral, geometric, or rainbow.
I tan easily so I prefer bright solid colors that accent my tan. Not to draw attention but they just look better on me. I just got a Skinz M77 in Tahitian Magenta print though and I plan to wear it one day while we’re in Galveston this week. Love the colors. The other days will be bright, solid Bang, Gregg Homme, Joe Snyder and Skinz thongs. Like others have said, people are going to notice a guy in a thong so might as well wear what looks best on you.
