…and wore my thong in public for the first time. I did my first lap swim in a thong this morning at the gym, and I’m happy to report it went great
I normally swim at 5AM right when LA Fitness opens. At this location it’s usually only me and one older guy in the pool until another older woman shows up right before 6AM. Today it was the same, plus one new person.
I wore a plain black Desmiit thong underneath swim briefs, did my warmup set, then removed the briefs for my main set.
The two regular folks didn’t seem bothered. But I think the new guy in the next lane looked a bit intimidated. I’d like to think it was more so because he’s most likely a new swimmer rather than because of what I was wearing. That was me a year ago, so I get it.
My main set felt great! The feeling of freedom going from swimming in a brief to a thong felt like the extra freedom I felt going from shorts to a brief.
I’m still not 100% comfortable, and I’ll probably stick to briefs when it’s busier. Admittedly, I think I mustered enough confidence to lose the briefs because I was the fastest swimmer in the pool (mind you, I’m not anywhere near as fast a swimmer as the average swim club swimmer). I know I’m overthinking this, but I’d probably feel silly swimming laps in a thong if there was a faster more “serious” swimmer in the pool.
But hopefully I’ll build more confidence with more exposure.
Great experience makes me curious to try to do the same. Like the idea of keeping the thong under brief then take it of when it feels most suitable. Sounds like a great experience must give a rush and feeling of freedom finally to do it.
It is very liberating to swim in a thong. I did it a few times last year. The pool I go to is open to the general public, and it is free. The pool is open for lane swimming at certain times of the day, so I have to always check the schedule before I go. Since it is free, the pool can get crowded. I have to share a lane with four other people, and there is usually someone swimming in front of me and behind me.
One time, the pool was less crowded than usual, so I took the plunge and wore my Gregg Homme Caliente thong swimsuit. There were two female lifeguards on standby, and I asked one of them if thongs were allowed. She didn’t have a problem with my swimsuit, so I was able to do laps in a thong. About ten minutes into my swim session, people started showing up to the pool, and I had to share a lane with three other people. I had to swim a lot faster so that the person swimming behind me wouldn’t get too close to me. But, it was such a thrill knowing that the person behind me could see my butt and crack.
