I see lots of questions and stories from destinations with beaches on the ocean, as well as pools and inland lakes, but not many from the Great Lakes area. The west Michigan shoreline has tons of awesome sandy beaches, surely I’m not the only one sporting a thong at Lake Michigan beaches?!

I live in south eastern Wisconsin amd frequent the beach. It’s pretty rare to see someone else in a thong but I tend to go to the less crowded parts
I lived in Libertyville, IL for a couple of years… I would wear a thong regularly to Illinois Beach St. Park, Hollywood Beach, Carol St Beach (In Kenosha), in Milwaukee…

Ive been to Park Point Beach in Duluth a number of times. The water is cold even in summer but its a very long strecth of beach with great sand and perfect for thonging. It kind of has the ocean feel with the wide open lake in front of you. I have always seen at least a few thongs when there and sometime quite a few. I have found that the best spot is on either side of the large beach house on the far end. I have never had an issue whther just laying out or walking the shoreline in a thong.

Tough to imagine going to the beach in MI right now! My wife and I usually go to Lake Michigan beaches, Warren Dunes, Van Buren, South Haven area…both of us wear thongs pretty much any time on the lake/beach.

Made it out to Holland State Park Beach over the weekend. Finally a great beach day in MI. Wife and I both in thongs. Beach wasn’t super busy, but there were still plenty of people out. Went for a couple of walks, laid out for a while, got in the water (very briefly!), and just did normal beach stuff. Had some positive interaction, but really no one seems to care. Hope updates like this inspire others to have the confidence
