I live in a rural (north central) part of Pennsylvania, nowhere near lakes, beaches, resorts, etc. that allow thongs. Pittsburgh and Erie are both 2-1/2 hours away. Presque Isle in Erie is a state park, and PA state parks do not allow thongs. I do live near two other state parks (with swimming facilities) where I can and do wear Cocksox swim briefs. I also live about 200 yards from the local community pool, but couldn’t wear anything less than Cocksox swim trunks. This town is very conservative. Occasionally, I will make a trip to visit any of the wave pools in Pittsburgh so I can wear thongs and g-strings. Allegheny County has no rules about swimwear at the county pools. This is great, except I don’t want to drive 5 hours round trip on days where I just want to get some sun wearing minimal swimwear.
This topic is to ask anyone on this forum if they have had any success in starting up any sort of thonging group in an area not near the beach, a resort, etc. As you can imagine, I may be one of a few people, if not the only person, in my entire county that likes to wear thongs and g-strings in public. I have looked into renting a pool on Swimply with no success. Even if I could locate a pool, I would not want to thong alone.
I see @GuestGuest is trying to start up a group in the valley near Phoenix, but I see this being feasible due to the warm desert climate and the resorts in the area. I also see this being nearly impossible where I live. Additionally, how does someone broach the subject with others to drum up interest? It’s not like I can put a want ad in the paper asking the community if anyone is interested in meeting up at someone’s pool to hang out and wear minimal swimwear. Even if I had my own pool, I don’t think anyone on this forum would be willing to travel to this remote area that does not have much to offer.
In any event, I do enjoy reading about everyone’s experiences, and I take note of what is permitted at the various travel destinations. It’s just that I can’t jump on a plane and go to South Florida every other weekend.
