Public Perception of a brief vs thong

I few questions I’ve been asking myself recently, and wondering if others feel/think the same.

  1. Do you find yourself able to admire a girl in a thong, while also feeling jealous when you’re not wearing one?

  2. Looking back at those times, do you really think people would have viewed you differently if you were wearing a brief, or the same brief with a thong back? (Thinking like the coyote brand brief vs thong. Nothing flashy in the front)

There are definitely a few instances that I can remember this happening. The trigger for this being one last night.

I took my family (wife and 2 kids) on a summer vacation last year out to the Okanagan in BC. Now I wore a thong to the outdoor pool at the motel almost everyday, but only briefs at the beach across the street. Saw several woman and girls wearing thongs, and as much as I enjoyed seeing them, I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy.

Last night, I went lane swimming. But the pool was busier than expected. I decided on the brief over the thong. As I was leaving, there was a beautiful girl in a very tiny thong in the hot tub. Again, definitely liked her confidence, but felt that tinge of jealousy.

Looking back at these types of situations I wonder how differently people would really view a guy in a modest thong vs a brief. The easy example is the pool. No one talked to me, people looked but didn’t say anything, and being in a brief I was already in the smallest suit on a guy there. Would any of that really changed if I had have just worn the thong? Probably not!

I would say I agree with your thinking. I think most of the time if you can feel ok wearing the brief then wearing a “modest”, “classic” thong won’t change the reaction. Sure there’s always the rare occasion of a man or woman raising a fuss or making a comment but 95% of the time it won’t make a difference. Case in point, at my condo complex pool I never have an issue wearing just about any kind of brief. I also almost never have an issue wearing a Skinz M67 or M77 thong.

I think of this as a perfect “stealth” thong. The dark, solid colors read almost like a Speedo-style from the front, but they’re otherwise pretty minimal. I’ve had no issues or negative comments wearing them over the past 4-5 years, and a fair number of positive comments.

They will almost certainly notice. Even if you’re wearing a thong that looks similar to a brief from certain angles, they’re distinctly different styles, and they probably haven’t seen many men (if any) wearing thongs. It’s difficult to say, however, whether it would change their opinion. It might, but unless they make it known, who’s to say?

What made you decide to wear swim briefs instead of a thong when you went to the beach with your family or when the pool was busy?
