I’ve gotten used to spending my vacations in Cayo Largo, Cuba, usually at the same resort, formerly known as Sol Cayo Largo. I’ve always felt very comfortable wearing a thong around the resort grounds, and I only felt the need to put on a cover-up when going for breakfast at the main restaurant.
During every stay, I’ve even met other men wearing thongs. I wonder if the fact that the resort has a small clothing-optional section on its private beach has given it a reputation for being pretty relaxed when it comes to swimwear in general that it’s not unusual at all to see men wearing thongs around the resort.
With the current situation in Cuba, I’m now considering the Dominican Republic, which I’ve never visited before.
Could anyone recommend specific resorts where you’ve personally stayed and felt very comfortable wearing a thong, and where you also saw other men in thong?
I’m particularly interested in adult only resorts that aren’t packed with tourists, with a peaceful atmosphere and no DJs, or loud activities.
Here’s my list of resorts to consider. I think some are quiet. My requirements are adults-only, large pool or lap pool, all inclusive. I have yet to prioritze Dominican Republic since my group of friends haven’t raved about it. Many choose Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya or Turks and Caicos.

@XM2212 Thanks for taking the time to reply. So, if I understand correctly, you haven’t actually stayed at any of these resorts, but you think they’d be pretty chill about a guy wearing a thong?
I’m not really someone who likes change. Once I found my happy place at this resort in Cayo Largo, it became my go-to place whenever I need a vacation. I’ve been going there for years without even thinking about going anywhere else. It’s cozy, the staff are great, and even the manager comes by to chat with me when he’s doing his rounds. And like I said, there’s always been at least one other guy in thong whenever I’ve stayed there. Plus, it’s really affordable when you’re traveling from Canada.
I only considered the Dominican Republic because of the price, but I’m willing to pay more for peace of mind. Can you tell me which resorts you stayed at in Riviera Maya or Playa del Carmen where you wore a thong and also saw other guys wearing thongs?
I went to Paradisus La Perla in Playa del Carmen. It has an adults only side and a family side. It gets busy but mostly quiet with no scheduled nightlife parties. I didn’t like that the pools weren’t heated so they were very cold when they open in the morning. I have yet to visit Riviera Maya because I’m searching for resorts with heated pools. I left Cancun off the list since that’s a much larger tourist destination.
