Snorkeling Cruise

My GF and I decided to go back to Puerto Rico for a long weekend because we had a few days off and I had enough Jet Blue miles to get us there free. We rebooked a snorkeling cruise to Culebra since it got canceled last time.

It was not a large boat, with 30 people of mixed ages plus 5 crew in close quarters. I wore an M67 under my board shorts for the one hour trip to Culebra. Once we arrived everyone stripped to swimwear. Only my GF and two other women were wearing thongs, but I figured what the heck – despite being nervous – and stripped to the M67. No comments, no side-eye, no nothing. GF and I did a long swim, went back to the boat after an hour for lunch, and hung out talking to and swimming with the other passengers and crew.

One woman, maybe 30, complimented me on how fit both of us looked.

We then headed to a reef where we snorkeled for about 60-70 minutes. A guy from another boat said “I love your swimsuit”. I thanked him and said that hardly guys have the balls to wear thongs and I was trying to set a good example. He laughed and said that it looked good.

We all stayed in our swimwear for the hour ride back, just chatting and snapping photos.

All in all, the experience I expected to be nerve wracking ended up being a nothing burger. Two thumbs up!

Sounds like a great time. Glad to hear you both enjoyed yourselves

I’m sitting here at my favorite beach, Which is very crowded because it is a Sunday, and it’s the same “nothing burger” experience again. Let’s see if that carries over once I’m back in the Boston area. I honestly don’t know if I am being more confident, or if the place is more tolerant, or if I just think the place is more tolerant.
