South Coast, New South Wales, Australia

I’m visiting the South Coast NSW region this weekend and am looking for some help from my fellow thongers. Are thongs common on any beaches near Wollongong? I’d love to sunbake in a thong in the company of other thongers.

Don’t know but think you’ll find it’s same as Sydney. No one or very few (eg occasionally at Coogee & in the past at Bondi & Tamma). I’m usually the only one. I’d say, if you want to wear one, ‘just do it’ as Nike says. If you wait for somewhere with others, you’ll never do it. I’ve done it further south at Mollymook, Culburra, Narrawally in years before COVID & only had an issue once with a yobbo whose masculinity seemed to be challenged & didn’t like I took a few pics (not with him in I hasten to add) but even then, after he’d hurled the abuse I just carried on and he got bored. Good luck. Post how you get on!

Probably a bit late but a couple of months ago I took a long walk and swim at Port Kembla Beach from the surf club walking south. I kept a speedo on until away from the crowds and then it was sparsely populated.

Good to know… pretty much same as everywhere in NSW

I think it would be like anywhere else on the entire East Coast. There will be a large portion of females wearing thongs, a few guys in speedos (Budgys usually) and you might see another male thong wearer occasionally.
That’s usually way too far south for me, so no first hand experience sorry.
