SunSplash Fort Lauderdale Thonger Weekend - July 2026

This is in no way a joke or insult, but I think you may be the first female to recognize an odd inequality. Many of us males are still working to wear thongs at the same places females already do, with no judgement. Since Sun Splash weekend says “by invitation only”, perhaps you can still find a reason to go. Bring a friend male or female or whomever that you can feel safe around.

I rather it be coed too.

I’m going to make a concrete suggestion in the spirit of making people feel more welcome, please don’t be offended.

Using the words “male” and “female” as nouns, not as adjectives, to refer to men and women is generally perceived as awkward or clinical, and some people even perceive it as rude because it reduces people to their reproductive functions. I promise I am not making this up.

Using the terms “men” and “women” is warmer and more welcoming.

So… “Many men are working to make the wearing of thongs be more commonplace. We would welcome the attendance and support of like-minded women.”

I would welcome a coed event as well.

SunSplash appreciates everyone’s comments and perspectives regarding the event.

For those who may not be aware, SunSplash has explored coed options in the past. Last year, after extensive efforts by the coordinators, we secured a separate hotel property specifically intended to accommodate coed attendees. Unfortunately, despite the significant time and effort invested in finding a property that would permit our group and our activities, NOT A SINGLE coed couple ultimately attended.

Many people do not realize the challenges involved in organizing an event like this. Finding suitable venues, working within property restrictions, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a positive experience for attendees requires a tremendous amount of effort behind the scenes.

SunSplash has enjoyed many successful years and has welcomed guests from across the United States and around the world. We are grateful for the support, appreciation, and friendships that have developed through these events. The format currently used has proven enjoyable and comfortable for the male attendees who choose to participate.

That said, we certainly recognize that others may prefer a different type of gathering. If someone from this Thong Forum or elsewhere feels there is demand for a coed event and has the leadership, time, and organizational skills to bring it together, we would encourage them to do so. We genuinely wish success to anyone willing to take on the challenge of creating an event that serves the audience they are seeking.

Thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful reply.

I think it’s great you all get together for Sunsplash and get the awareness out there of men in thongs or people in thongs. Though I never experienced I was told Ft. Lauderdale is friendly to thongs regardless of gender.

My wife and I would love to find an event like this where couples can attend. Maybe an idea for future meetups?

I am one of the organizers of Sunsplash and wanted to remind everyone that women are welcome to attend the Sunsplash event at the hotel and/or events on the beach. While the event is not branded as a coed event, there are no restrictions on women who attend or show up. All are welcome.

Hey thanks for clarifying that. I have followed the event for a while and remembered it was at a men’s only hotel previously. I didn’t realize that changed.

Yes, FLL is accepting of thongs for all. Mainly because it’s an accepting community and during the summer, it is predominantly tourists not from here.

I will not say that this is not true; however, I was informed that my female (woman) partner would not be allowed into the hotel / pool areas of Thonger’s weekend. As such, her and I changed our flights and diverted to Key West where we will be spending our own thongers weekend on Smather’s Beach.

Here’s a reply that I received from the Sunsplash organizer event in regards to bringing my female partner…

This is a quote from an email:

“Out of respect for the expectations of our attendees, we want to avoid any distractions or situations that would not be welcomed by guest, who are expecting an all male environment at the resort. Thank you for your understanding.”

This was followed by “she will be welcomed to the beach event”…

Not a coed event!
