Surely you all have awesome plans for the July 4 3-day weekend?

It’s going to be hot af on Friday and Saturday in New England (as it was on Wednesday and Thursday), so be careful out there. I’ll make a trip early in the day to a Rhode Island beach that I always visited as a kid on July 4 weekend, and then stay closer to home on Saturday if Boston area traffic permits. Sunday is wait and see.

What about you?

And you’ll be thonging where?

I’m be on the shoreline of Lake Michigan for the holiday weekend. Toes in the sand, bum in the sun.

Leaving early to get to Little Compton paid off, people were already rolling in by 8:30 and I’m sure the lot was full by 10am. When I left at 11:30 it was 100% full, 90F and getting much hotter.

The beach here is always a mix: the part near the parking has conservatively dressed families with little kids, but also a few young women in relatively modest thongs, and guys in loooong boardies.

Farther down the beach, where I always go, no little kids and the women’s swimwear tends to get smaller.

My rule of thumb is not to wear smaller suits than most of the women but my M67s break that rule here, but it’s all good. I got a few thumbs up from both guys and gals today.

The waves were good today for body surfing. I had a spare suit with a drawstring, but honestly, the M67 stays put even in the surf. It really is my go-to suit for everything.

Spent the last 4 days on the Cape, partly for work and the latter half pleasure with my family.

While my son was off hunting for beach treasures, I was able to sun my buns for about a half hour in a TEAMM8 blue micro swim thong as my wife laid out next to me.

The following day we went to an ocean side beach but the biting black flies (not greenheads) were relentless under our Sun Ninja shade. I went for about a 1.5 mile walk and wore the same TEAMM8 thong for the more remote part of the walk.

Looking forward to getting more beach days in soon.

Spent today at Playalinda nude beach but started off in a black Bruno gstring from Mexico. It was a beautiful day and a great way to start the holiday.

So far, we’ve spent the Southern New England weekend inland and nude, just far enough away from the shoreline to be in the mid to high 90’s - brutally hot. The combination of humidity, temperature and bright sun can be dangerous even with numerous shade trees and a pool. Stay home in the A/C, anywhere else is just not worth the hassle. There are other more tolerable weekends on the way.

Today it was my “local break” (Nahant Beach). I had my SUP with me but didn’t bother taking it off of the roof racks, because the water was flat and glassy.

I hung out for the early shift (left around 10:30) but on a hot weekend day, other people show up early, too. As usual, half the girls/women are in thongs, even a lot of moms with their kids. That being said, you have to picture this beach – there’ no place to set up away from other people, there are entrances every 100 yards or so, and at low tide it’s a long walk from the parts of the beach with soft dry sand to the water. Even now, 4-5 years in, I sometimes wonder “Is this group of teenage boys and girls gonna break out in derisive laughter?” Answer: Nope, doesn’t happen. Today, a thong-wearing mom of two boys (7 and 10, I’d guess) chatted with me while we were both in the water while she was trying to keep them from pestering other people LOL.

Except for the $$$$ parking fees for non-MA residents, I really recommend Nahant Beach. It’s an unusual “wild” place in a dense urban environment, and the water (especially at its south end, gates 3-7) is noticeably very clear. And cold. Weekday afternoons or early on weekend mornings are good bets.

Today I was able to get 2 hours in at the northern end of Ogunquit Beach. It was completely packed and parking was a total bear but once I got to the beach and found a spot, I wore a brand new N2N thong. This is the smallest, micro thong I own and it was very comfortable and I think it wore it well.

The weather finally broke today and it’s 80F instead of 100F. My dog has been cooped up during the too-hot weather, so today was his day. He went skinny dipping, as he does, at a lovely thong dog-friendly pond in Weston.

I know the holiday weekend is over. I spent the weekend in Grand Haven, Michigan. Friday I was able to spend a few hours on the beach in an American Flag print thong. I set up at the south end of the beach near a couple of women wearing thong bikinis. No one seemed to care much what I was wearing. Yet on my walk I noted not one piece of swimwear on men smaller than typical board shorts. And there was not. Chance I was setting up in the middle of the beach with all the children and families. The South end was peaceful and enjoyable. I was able to jump in the water several times. Lake Michigan was unusually warm.

Today I met friends at my home/local beach. It was a beautiful day. I wore a neon orange N2N Maverick thong. I must say I looked good and my friends agreed. I was the only man on the sand in a thong. I got plenty os stares and a few sneaky photos taken of me. Everyone could see we were having fun, enjoying floating agin the water and soaking up the sun.
