Hello, I own a few thongs and have tried them at the beach and pool, but I much prefer a full cut bikini. I have tried to get into thonging, but I find bikini cut to be so much more comfortable. I do like the high cut bikini’s much like the 90’s bodybuilding posing trunks and not so much the low cut styles of today. As an added benefit I don’t have the same issues as a thong wearer as to where I can and cannot wear them. I can wear them around the house,in the pool, and to the beach without issue and I don’t worry about covering up. I do occasionally take the thong out for a a spin though. Does anybody else feel the same or is it team thong all the way?
If I’m around my wife’s friends and co-workers I’ll wear a full cut bikini but anywhere else it’s team thong all the way.
Would be team thong all the time if society more accepting but reality is bikini needed for family/friends/gym & some beaches where families rule
It’s been a while since I’ve been anywhere I couldn’t wear a thong. Times are definitely changing. Team thong.
Ditto. Three years ago I was worried about family-friendly almost-urban Nahant Beach, e.g., but it’s just not an issue, what with at least 1/3 of the girls/women wearing thongs. I don’t let hanging out with friends keep me from wearing them, either. Maybe if I was a public figure running for office or a kindergarten teacher, someone would care; but nope, nobody cares.
My go-to are tangas (very cheeky bikinis). There is a little coverage on the butt but not much. However I’ve become more comfortable wearing thongs. I wore a little black thong one I made to Malibu yesterday. The simplicity of the suit makes me feel more confident and I felt less “self conscious” in it as opposed to the thongs I own with bold patterns
Still if im around family or coworkers (or just want to wear a little more) Ill opt for a bikini. I own a bunch so I might as well mix up what I wear. This morning I tried on some speedos from an old bag and it felt like an excessive amount of fabric. I haven’t worn briefs in a long time.
Comparing the two I find thongs stay put, while bikinis will ride down a little bit (like everything else if you have a big butt). Tangas are a nice medium if you want a little more back there and many could pass as a thong depending on how you wear the back.
I happen to find thongs super comfortable and supportive. They feel completely natural to me and they are defintely my swimwear of choice. Everyone should wear what they feel best in whatever that is and respect people’s choices. Thongs aren’t for everyone but I am sold on them.
I prefer thong over bikini. I only wear bikini when the rules don’t allow thongs.
I used to wear Calvin Klein string bikinis in the late 90s and found them to be very comfortable for every day use, but I do prefer thongs especially on the beach or at the pool.
To each his own
Here in the U.S., there’s very little difference in the amount of stigma between a man wearing a thong, a bikini, or even a square cut, so you might as well wear what you want as long as it’s legal.
After wearing a Skinzwear M55 and M77 most every time I’ve been to the beach in the last two years I find wearing anything more to be constrictive and because of that less desirable. On the rare occasion, I can’t wear a song to the beach or pool I’ll sometimes just skip going all together.
Team thong here. I was on a swim team for years. Wearing Speedos was the norm but I always dreamed of wearing a thong. I thought for swimming it makes more sense. Since I started to wear a thong at the beach I never looked back. I love how the sun feels all over your skin and the friendly waves I have gotten.
You don’t have to tell me this. I have worn everything from the-bikini.com g-strings, Cocksox swim thongs, Cocksox swim briefs, and Cocksox swim trunks. I have received negative comments at times, regardless of what I was wearing. Twice this year I was asked to wear something more appropriate. Just last week I heard giggles when I was walking by to leave a pool. I was wearing black Cocksox swim trunks. The Cocksox swim trunks are the most conservative suits I have. If I can’t wear these with no judgment from anyone, I don’t know what to do anymore.
I am sick and tired of being judged when I see women wearing minimal (yet legal) swimsuits everywhere I go. There is a fine line between what is legal vs. what is appropriate, especially for men. I literally live right next door to a community pool, and I have already been told by a lifeguard the Cocksox swim brief is inappropriate. I don’t know if I should attempt to wear Cocksox swim trunks at this pool or just not go to the pool anymore. What’s nice about this pool is its 200 yards from my house and it’s great to go on days where I don’t want to drive to a nearby state park with swimming facilities. As much as I hate to say this, I may have to break down and buy a pair of swim trunks that society considers normal. This is to end the anxiety when I go to ultraconservative venues with strict rules. I am not taking about board shorts that go to the knees. I am referring to something like Tucann swim trunks with a 3” inseam. However, I already know it’s going to feel like wearing a tent, compared to all other suits I currently own.
Has anyone else considered purchasing “regular” swim trunks that everyone feels is appropriate? If so, what brand would you recommend? If I would break down and buy something, I will still wear the minimal suits wear it is appropriate and legal. The problem is I need to drive long distances or fly to Florida in order to wear these suits.
I have several pairs of square cut Aussiebum trunks, Arena bikini swimwear and some generic square Aliexpress swim trunks. I have them as backup if the rules don’t allow for thongs. I agree with you that the moral values of others frustrates me as well. I’m currently reserving myself to Arena swimwear at all places and only wearing thongs and g strings on vacation where many women are already wearing them. The Karens of the world are deafening. Many days I feel humanity is lost.
@Bonzo69 … no dubt there’s a double standard for men and women. Fortunately for me I haven’t been asked to change at my local pool. I’ll wear a thong (Skinzwear M77). I usually avoid weekends because I don’t want to be around kids, but on the very rare weekend when it’s packed I’ll sometimes wear a Skinzwear bikini or a Speedo 1” just avoid the drama.
The double standard is extremely frustrating, but it’s just a fact of life in this country. A man wearing a small suit is judged more harshly and differently than a woman who wears one.
You basically have two choices:
- Wear what you like (as long as it’s not breaking any posted rules or laws) and try to disregard the snickers and comments of others. Though easier said than done, this is the healthier option.
- Conform to what the masses say you should wear…at least to some degree. While I haven’t seen pictures of the suits you’re being told are inappropriate, I am aware of the brands and think you probably have some intermediate options before resorting to actual shorts or trunks. The big thing with negativity towards men in minimal swimwear is often how much the bulge is accentuated by the suit. I’m guessing the suits you’re wearing probably have a pretty defined pouch. This may be where your issue lies. There are plenty of swim briefs with flat fronts or a single front seam to allow for comfort without putting everything on display. I wear the Speedo Solar everywhere because it’s sporty and sexy but looks like a suit made for an athlete rather than an exotic dancer. It’s also perfect for wearing a thong underneath and losing the bikini if I feel comfortable wearing just the thong. Like I said, I definitely don’t think you have to resort to full trunks, just maybe a more modest bikini, brief, or square cut/sunga to keep the masses from clutching the pearls.
Again, I’m saddened to read of your frustrations and relate to them completely. It’s incredibly disheartening to know that enjoying something so simple has to be a source of stress when it should be a total nonissue. I hope you find a solution that can keep you comfortable and stress free
To be honest, this was my first thought when I saw “Cocksox,” whose suits are kinda the opposite of this. Maybe I’m just a fuddy duddy, but they don’t seem to me like a good choice for a community swimming pool. Perhaps a more modest choice would not cause so much pushback? The Skinz M67 is pretty minimal while being less “in your face”, e.g.
There is absolutely no way I am going to be able to wear any thong whatsoever to the local pool. Heck, thongs are not even permitted in the PA State Parks (per the posted rules), let alone to the local pool. The local pool says no inappropriate swimwear. This is also the case at all the waterparks within driving distance of where I live. I dare anyone to find a waterpark in the world, that specifically allows thongs on anyone, especially men. Is there such as thing as an adult-only waterpark, where women AND men can wear thongs with zero repercussions?
Several suggestions I have received on this forum, as well as another forum, is to not wear any of the Cocksox suits. The swim thong, swim brief, and the swim trunks each have a different pouch style. All Cocksox suits have a front seam, and the swim trunks have the most flattening front. Yes, I agree the swim thong and the swim brief have accentuating pouches that should not be worn in a family environment or local pool setting. But I wonder about the swim trunks. Please go to www.cocksox.com and review the different suits and how the pouch is described for each and let me know if you would feel comfortable wearing these suits in public. If so, in which environment would you feel most comfortable wearing each suit, provided they conform to the rules and laws.
The reason I like the Cocksox suits is they fit like a glove and never need adjusting. I just struggle to decide which suit to wear in which specific environment. As a minimalistic swimsuit wearer, I feel the general public is offended if they see anyone wearing anything less than board shorts. I guess I need to find a different suit manufacturer that makes a suit that will follow the rules and laws where I live and save the Cocksox suits for places more tolerant of men who wear smaller swimsuits.
Your post makes me glad I live in Australia. You Americans are such prudes. I have just returned from swimming 2.3 kms in my local outdoor pool. I wore kiniki tan through swim thong. Management have no problem with anyone wearing swim thongs. I will admit that I am one of only a handful of men.
As for your Cocksox comments, I have one of their briefs with the original pouch. I like it and have worn it multiple times. I don’t think men should feel embarrassed about their man bits. If you’ve got it, flaunt it.
LOL, challenge accepted. One minute of Google found this channel on TikTok with what appears to be hundreds of short videos of women in multiple water parks all over the place in thongs.
