Lining and Drawstrings

One of the defining characteristics of any thong swimsuit is whether or not it is lined and has a drawstring.

In the past, I would have answered unlined. With the exception of the Speedo thong, which I unfortunately did not purchase before it was discontinued, most brands only offered unlined thong swimsuits.

These days, the thongs I wear most frequently are lined and have drawstrings. I like the classic swim brief–esque style, and the lining and drawstring help ensure I’m only revealing as much as intended. I still enjoy wearing unlined thongs and g-strings, but I don’t choose them as often.

For me, always unlined and no drawstring. The less the better!

I feel like unlined is too exposed. I do like an exposed drawstring, because it communicates that the suit is indeed swimwear. If it’s adults only, I’ll tuck in the drawstring.

Lined suits don’t satisfy the exhibitionist in me, so I always remove them. Better yet is to order them unlined.

I prefer lined thongs with a drawstring, because sometimes certain brands are cut smaller in the front. The drawstring allows me to pull the front up a little and stretch it to cover more skin. Also, a front lining does seem to make for less, but still noticeable, printing of private parts, especially since I mostly wear bright solid colors.

In the case of when I wore a white colored thong, everything pretty much showed through when wet, but I just rolled with it.

I have some conservative speedo style suits with drawstrings from Orocojuco. I cut the lining out and modify them with a needle and thread. I enjoy the fact that anyone walking towards me sees a pool style suit, but from the rear the suit only reaches half way down from the waistband.

Lined and drawstrings for me. I’m losing weight, but not ready to down size, so the drawstring keeps the thong from falling off in the water and the lining keeps everything covered.

Congrats on the weight loss!

Unlined enhances the experience of wearing a thong. Less material is generally more comfortable. A drawstring would only be practical if you do a lot of lap swimming in my opinion.

Unlined and no drawstring for me. I don’t swim laps or dive, so it’s not an issue. I also wouldn’t dare wear a thong or small swim brief to a water park. However, I would wear Cocksox swim trunks, which are unlined but have a drawstring.

Since I wear thongs among the general public, lined is a must. The goal is to coexist with a broader community, so I personally do not want to be exposing myself to others. Perhaps that’s generally why I’m ignored; it’s just another type of swimsuit and no big deal.

It definitely depends on the setting. Since I typically only wear a thong at nude or clothing optional beaches where it’s more of a coverup, a drawstring is just one less thing about which to worry, and the lining isn’t really necessary for modesty. However, if I’m wearing one to a pool party or event where I plan to be swimming and more active, they’re welcome features.
