Rayze Swimwear Thong

I’m predisposed to dislike most things that are trending on social media. There are too many shills, and the products rarely live up to the hype.

Rayze Swimwear checks all the wrong boxes:

:ballot_box_with_check: The brand exists almost entirely on Instagram.

:ballot_box_with_check: Their products appear to be universally adored.

:ballot_box_with_check: Their biggest supporter is a genuine fan creator using thong swimwear to promote their adults only content. :underage:

But, if I suppress my cynicism, it’s not all bad. Rayze (formerly known as Nutshack) is a relatively new brand. The origin story is similar to N2N’s. The founder started making swimsuits for himself, they caught the attention of other swimmers at the pool, and a new business was born. If you’d like to learn more about the brand, the founder was interviewed on the Brief Talk Podcast.

I like to support small businesses, especially when they align with my interests, so I decided to give Rayze Swimwear a try. I ordered two small swim thongs from the Rayze Swimwear Etsy shop. They recently launched a website, but most products are still sold through Etsy.

The founder of Rayze Swimwear is a lap swimmer, and his designs are clearly inspired by the athletic swim briefs made by popular brands. The Rayze swim thong is reminiscent of the discontinued Speedo thong, which, for many, has never been replaced, so I can see why it’s so popular. It’s lined and has an internal drawstring, which appears to be a white shoelace. There’s a logo on the back and a small tag with the size. Razye offers solids, but seems to be more focused on prints. Some are a bit too silly for my taste, but there are plenty of options. They are clearly homemade, but are well constructed.

My first thought when I opened the package was that the swimsuits looked a little big. Trying them on confirmed that they were too roomy in the waist. Undeterred, I ordered a couple of extra small thongs to see if they’d be a better fit. One fit more comfortably. The other, however, was indistinguishable from the small swimsuits size-wise.

Most athletic swim briefs have a flat front panel. Thong swimwear brands often design the front panel for a more contoured, natural fit. The Rayze swim thong takes that idea a bit too far. The front panel, which has a seam all the way down the center, adds unnecessary space near the waistband. It looks okay when the swimsuit is dry, but fills with air when it’s wet and bunches up when seated.

Consistent sizing would make the Rayze Swimwear thong a decent swimsuit. Some tweaks to the design would make it a great one. As it stands now, however, there are other brands at this price point I prefer. I will definitely keep an eye on Razye Swimwear. If they continue to #RayzeTheBar, they have the potential to become a top tier brand.

Have you tried the Rayze Swimwear thong? What did you think?

Thanks for the review. I’ve not ordered from them, but they keep popping up in my newsfeed. I’ve been considering making a purchase. Based on your experience, I’d be apprehensive to order unless they were having a sale.

I did order a suit from them while they were still under the Nutshack name, but I was not thrilled with the purchase. The fit was odd (I purchased the correct sizing), and I found the quality not up to par given the price. In my opinion, the quality was the same as thongs you can find on Amazon.

This was, again, a while ago, so I’m hopeful the brand has improved. Some of their designs look great.

Did you discuss this with the owner? He’s a friend of mine, and he values feedback.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the invite!

Definitely appreciate all of the feedback and reviews! Obviously good reviews are encouraging and exciting to receive, but the bad reviews are where the real value is. I truly believe you can’t make a good cake if the cake you made is sub-par, but everyone says it tastes great.

That said, I can certainly speak to the things you brought up in your critiques and I’ll do my best to communicate clearly :slightly_smiling_face:

Sizing:
Since these are hand-made, there is always a possibility of slight variations in sizing. I use a few different types of materials and each material stretches at a different rate. So in an effort to keep the sizing the same I decided to try and match the stretch with the size so that customers didn’t have to try and remember which size they purchased in the various material types. Because of that, some suits tend to fit slightly differently than others of the same size due to the stretch rate. My initial thought was to have them a bit oversized so the garment doesn’t “dig in” around the hips/waist, but still fits and by including the drawstring it kind of felt like a good compromise so you are still able to keep them secure. I’ll speak to this a bit more in the “quality/stitching” section below.

Quality/Stitching:
This is something I’ve considered since the beginning. I absolutely agree, the stitching that I use is not quite as robust as others, but as mentioned, I do try really hard to construct them as robustly as possible with the machines that I have. I basically wanted to see how the business grew to see if it was something that I could sustain alongside my everyday life before I made any large asset purchases for better machines or if I would need to “bite the bullet” and move to outsource manufacturing. The growth that I have experienced has led me to make the decision to outsource the manufacturing of the garments. The stitching was a specific catalyst for this decision so this will be a huge upgrade for Rayze suits. As mentioned in the “sizing” section above, this should also eliminate the sizing variations as the outsource manufacturer will be doing large batches rather than one or two here and there. To upgrade the stitching, we did have to make some tweaks to the design and that should help with the sizing/pouch issue that was mentioned.

Looking forward:
So to sum it up, the quality/stitching is being upgraded. The sizing should be much more consistent as well. And I am trying really hard to keep the price points the same with the move to outsource manufacturing🙂. As mentioned, I have created a dedicated website for Rayze which I will most likely be transitioning to in the near future. Since I’m a one man team it has taken me longer than I had hoped, but I’m hopeful that I’ll have it ready to officially launch when the outsourced order comes in. I’m anticipating the launch by the end of this year, but that is contingent on when I receive the order so stay tuned! I will also be launching a new style that I don’t currently offer when that order comes in so definitely keep an eye out for that too! I’m also hoping to make a big announcement after the New Year so stay tuned for that too!

I appreciate all of your support and hope that we can grow Rayze to a premium swimwear brand! :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

@Rayze_Swimwear thank you for joining the forum and for your thoughtful response. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to launch and scale a new swimwear line. Can’t wait to see the next iteration.

You’re welcome! The struggles are there and always will be, but the mission is much bigger than the struggles. It’s about wearing what brings you joy and owning your life…living to the fullest extent. I’m just hoping to inspire and illicit confidence for as many men as I can. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for this. I appreciate entrepreneurs/businesses who stand behind their product. I’ve already put in a new order of swim thongs this Black Friday. Excited to give them a try!:heart::rainbow_flag::rainbow_flag:

Forgive me if I am mistaken if you were referencing someone else, but I am a genuine fan of Rayze Swimwear. It is possible to support a brand while also being an adult content creator. I own dozens of their suits and bring/wear them with me wherever.

A post was split to a new topic: Las Vegas Hotels

I’ll take you at your word that you’re a genuine fan. Unfortunately, many creators and influencers do not disclose their relationships with brands even though it’s required by law. The pervasiveness of the problem has made me wary of any brand that’s trending on social media.
