I’ll be heading to LA and San Diego next week, where are some places I should definitely check out for male thong wearers?
Newport beach in cosa is good
I’ll make it a point to stop there!
Blacks Beach in La Jolla is clothing optional. I would definitely be heading there too
Black’s Beach is genuinely awesome, clothing optional or not.
Newport Beach has a lot of beaches. Any particular beach in mind?
I would add Santa Monica, Venice, Hermosa, Manhattan. Many great beaches out there for thonging.
Blacks Beach is amazing. North part is clothing optional and south part is clothing required. I usually thong on the south part. You’ll see other men wearing thongs.
Thanks everyone! Looks like I’ll be heading to Black’s Beach on Wednesday, and a few others next week!
I’ve lived in Orange County for decades and have yet to go to Blacks Beach. It’s on my bucket list. I heard it’s a bit of a hike. Any tips on getting there?
Blacks Beach is indeed a steep hike down from the parking lot at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. I always bring lots of water with me, and comfortable shoes. I find the hike worth it since its such a comfortable beach to wear a thong as a guy.
Thank you for the details. I will have to give it a try.
While I don’t always go in a thong, almost all the beaches Ill mention below seem thong friendly (and I’ve worn one that most of these). I will say, not all of the beaches are that clean around here. Below is my list.
1 - Zuma in Malibu
Malibu is nice and quiet, however a lot of the beaches are pretty shallow, also anything south of Dan blocker Beach gets pretty dirty.
In fact I’d skip everything south of it except maybe very south Venice Beach. Santa Monica is fun but doesn’t ever rank high in cleanliness. Ive had a suit ruined from tar out there.
2 - Playa Del rey. It’s sometimes clean, but like the beaches north of it, you will come across the patches of tar.
3 - Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo and Torrance are all great. However avoid San Pedro through Long Beach, it’s never clean.
4 - Sunset Beach is great, however Huntington is a mixed bag when it comes to cleanliness. If you walk far enough you’ll find some good spots
5 - Newport Beach and specifically the peninsula North/West of 12th Corona del Mar gets too crowded. In fact this is my go-to for tanning in a thong even though I live much closer to the above beaches.
6 - Crystal Cove. If you are okay paying for parking and you want to swim in clear water, Crystal cove is a must. If you’ve never swam in the ocean in a thong, you are missing out.
7 - Laguna Beach (all of it) The beaches are nice in Laguna, but it is technically illegal to wear one in Laguna Beach. While I’ve yet to see it enforced, I tend to stick to tangas and bikinis out there. Also as of the last couple of years it gets very crowded in the summer
8 - San Clemente. South of the pier.
For San Diego, I’d skip Carlsbad and Oceanside. They’re both thong friendly but their beaches aren’t that deep and they get pretty crowded.
9 - La Jolla, although I tend to avoid blacks beach because of the hike.
10 - Sunset Cliffs south of the defunct pier.
I usually go to the beach around twice a week, and while I’m not always there tanning in a thong, and it’s a pretty regular occurrence.
Definitely not illegal to wear a thong in Laguna. These beaches are my go to’s for sunning, as they are absolutely beautiful. Try West St in South Laguna, as its very wide and long, and helps with the summer crowds. Plus the ocean is 70* right now, and feels terrific for a dip
Laguna Beach Code Of Ordinances 8.40.010
While it doesn’t mention thongs, it states you can’t show your buttocks. I really doubt there would be an issue but there have been more people making a scene as the tourism has grown out of hand for that area.
The only piece i saw was about proper coverage of genitalia for either men or women.
It wouldnt shock me to ever see somebody actually naked on the beach in Laguna to begin with
There’s going to be some tar seepage on many of the SoCal beaches, and it’s pretty common if you go north to Santa Barbara. The best way to clean it off your feet is to use mineral oil or baby oil (same thing), so have a bottle handy around the house. I haven’t tried it on any suits yet because I’ve so far avoided getting it on my suits.
SB is also fairly thong friendly.
Is SB Santa Barbara?
Yes! SB = Santa Barbara.
Update:
I just got back from my trip to SoCal. I had a great time. I visited a lot of beaches while I was there:
(in the order I went, not my ranking)
1 Venice Beach: wore my thong while laying in the sun, but put on shorts when I walked around. Was the only male in a thong, but it was a beautiful and fun place
2 Manhattan: for whatever reason, I didn’t feel the vibe there, didn’t take off my swim shorts
3 Newport: I’ve been here before and felt the most comfortable in a thong. Saw 2 other men I think, in thongs/speedos.
4: San Onofre: this is an unofficial nude/clothing optional beach between LA and SD. Wasn’t for me. It was a 30 minute walk from when I got out of my car to when I found a place to set up. Then the beach was just mostly rock. If you want privacy its a good place, but it was just all naked dudes when I went . I went on a Wednesday, so I’m sure it wasn’t the best day.
5 Black’s Beach:
What an amazing place. I’ve been to Hawaii, all across the Caribbean, and Mexico and I don’t think anything compares. I didn’t know about the stair way so I took the trail down, and it was a nerve racking walk. The beach is long that there are a ton of people there, but there’s plenty of room. There were people of all ages there, all ranges of swimsuits and none. I got sun, got in the water in my thong, also later naked. What an amazing setting.
After finding the stairs and walking up, I was exhausted but would do it again in a heart beat.
