KVRT STVFF Core Swim Thong

KVRT STVFF is a high-end clothing, underwear, and swimwear brand. According to their website, they’ve been around since 2018, though I only recently discovered them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they make thong swimsuits for both men and women.

The Core Swim Thong is their standard men’s thong, and there’s a matching style for women. KVRT STVFF offers one other men’s swim thong, the Hal Swim Thong, which looks similar except it has a metal logo that forms part of the side strap. I ordered the Core thong; the Hal is €‎70 more, and I couldn’t justify the extra expense without being sure about the size.

KVRT STVFF’s size chart is a bit unconventional. Instead of listing pant size equivalents (such as 28-30" for small, 30-32" for medium, etc.), they provide the waistband width of the garment and suggest comparing it to something you already own. Based on the measurements of swimsuits I like, I ordered the small. The size chart is accurate, but the fabric isn’t as stretchy as some other swimsuits, so the sizing isn’t as forgiving. The small fits me well; I wouldn’t fit into anything smaller, and I think a larger size would likely be too loose.

The Core Swim Thong is front-lined. The front is full coverage, while the sides have skinny straps and the back is quite skimpy. There’s a rubber label sewn onto the right hip. The style is understated, and the Core Swim Thong is available in just four solid colors: black, light brown, dark brown, and white.

I’m willing to pay a little more for quality, but the €130 price tag is pushing it. Charlie by MZ is the only other brand I know that offers swim thongs in that price range, and I usually only buy theirs when they’re deeply discounted. In terms of quality, it’s no better than other high-end brands I like, such as Todd Sanfield, so you’re definitely paying a premium for the designer label.

That said, the style is unique. I haven’t found anything comparable from more affordable brands. To some, it may seem basic, but I consider it simple, classic, and timeless. This is the kind of swim thong I wish had been more readily available years ago, when I found most options too flimsy and gaudy. The prohibitive price means I probably won’t be a repeat customer anytime soon, but I’ve been wearing the KVRT STVFF Core Swim Thong regularly and expect that I’ll continue to.

Definitely a prohibitive price unless steeply discounted

I’ve become very wary of quality/cut with some self appointed luxury brands

Bought a Luis Aponte Atelier pink Pedro swim thong. On the first dip in the ocean the colour started to bleed. It did so each of the few times I’ve worn it. It isn’t colour fast. Anything it comes into contact with is left with pink dye stains which have to be washed out pronto

Also bought the hip CDLP brand leopard print brief & swim short as a set for when a thong is not appropriate at a pool a event. The brief is not bad but the short has an unusual cut - it feels like an old fashioned school boy short. Quality wise the Knry animal print brief & short are equal quality, a far better cut & fit and all at a fraction of the CDLP price.

Knry does a single tie-side (Javier) thong which is a reasonable price & good quality. The only drawback is the rear is more towards a Brazilian cut than a skimpy thong cut (the previous Knry thong type was skimpier but is now discontinued sadly).

Even a recent Bang/DC2 Miami thong, that’s generally good quality albeit pricey too, had loose threads appearing after a single wear. That has been exceptional so far :crossed_fingers:

Yeah, wow. Given the “build quality” and fit of Skinz, it’s hard to justify the 2-3x price difference. A 40% off sale might persuade me to try one, because the lining and internal drawstring is a nice feature to have.

I’ve spent more on Skinz swimsuits than I’d like to admit, but I feel like the brand is clinging to an aesthetic I’d rather leave behind. I still highly recommend their thongs and g-strings, but their designs don’t seem to have evolved much since I first came across them decades ago. I’m also a bit disappointed that, even after a change in ownership, Skinz hasn’t modernized their marketing. The bodybuilder look never appealed to me and has always made it difficult to tell how their products will fit.

It’s hard to argue that the KVRT STVFF thong justifies the price when there are equally good options from more affordable brands, but there’s something about the style that resonates with me in a way that most other brands don’t.

Every thing, G-string, or underwear I have ever owned in pink has the color run. It must be something to do with the nature of pink dyes.

The KVRT STVFF is intriguing. Definitely has a more designer vibe to them. Total gamble especially if you get the size wrong.

The one with the metal logo on the back strap is very unique, just wonder if it would fail which would be embarrassing in the wrong location such as a hotel pool or crowded beach.
